| Peter Hickman scraps with 'Title fighters' |
Peter Hickman might have missed making the cut to be part of this year’s six-rider Showdown for the BSB title, but his continued development showed as he battled with five of the championship ‘title fighters’ in the second Silverstone race on Sunday.
Hickman was strong all weekend on the Quay Garage Tyco Honda, qualifying on the second row. He crashed out of race one but showed great determination to pick the bike up after the 120mph crash and tried to continue racing.
Race two, carrying a shoulder injury from the crash, Hickman rode one of his best races of the year, battling with five of the championship contenders plus factory Suzuki rider Jon Kirkham to finish an inspired seventh.
Hickman said: “It was probably good for everyone to watch... |

| Peter Hickman front row and seventh at Donington |
Peter Hickman was impressive throughout the weekend as BSB returned to Donington Park for the 10th round of the championship. He qualified the Quay Garage Honda fourth on the grid and was running with the leaders in fifth place in the early stages of the race but at mid-distance he started to drop back with a tyre problem.
Hickman said: “The tyre spun on the rim on the tenth lap. It wasn’t just a little bit out but a full 180 degrees so the tyre was suddenly completely out of balance. It made the bike vibrate badly and gave really terrible chatter so it was very difficult to get the bike stopped on the brakes and into corners.”
From trackside it was obvious Hickman had a problem as his lap times dropped from consistent mid 1:30s – the same pace at the leaders)... |

| Conditions Make Racing a Lottery at the British Super Bikes |
Persistent heavy rain at Oulton Park on Sunday brought the meeting to a premature end with only one BSB race run in the diabolical conditions. It wasn’t a great day for the Tyco Security Products Honda team with both riders falling foul of the rain-lashed track on the opening lap.
The weekend started well enough for both riders with Peter Hickman qualifying eighth and Patric Muff fifth fastest in the Evo class. Both riders got great starts Muff was leading the Evo class for the first time all season but spun up the rear tyre exiting Old Hall on the first lap and was high-sided out of the action. | Ryan Farquhar Has a Successful Southern 100 |
Ryan Farquhar enjoyed a successful trip to the Isle of Man this week with some strong results at the Southern 100 road races. The KMR Kawasaki rider took the wins in both of the Supertwins races and backed this up with 3rd in the main Solo Championship race. He also grabbed another 3rd in the Senior race and 5th in the Open race, the only blemish coming with a retirement in the 600cc race.
With fine weather around the 4.25-mile Billown circuit, the week started slowly for Ryan with a somewhat lowly 5th place in Tuesday's 600cc/1000cc race, handling issues with the ZX-10R Superstock machine preventing him from getting near his personal best speeds but changes to the bike helped him improve to 3rd in the following days Senior race. On the same evening he won the combined... |
