Q8Oils enjoyed a consistently successful track record with Airwaves Ducati over a three-year period, during which time the team won both the Riders’ and Manufacturers’ Championships.
From the outset the relationship with Airwaves Ducati was built on success, as Q8Oils were lubricant suppliers to Rizla Suzuki in 2004, won the Championship tat year. Having backed one winning team, Q8Oils weren’t taking any chances and their R&D Department took the unusual step of funding controlled and independent Wind Tunnel & Rolling Road testing of the Airwaves Ducatis at MIRA’s world-leading automotive test facility near Warwick. The results were remarkable. Even using publicly available Q8 Moto SBK Racing10W/50 synthetic oil, the 999cc V-Twin Ducatis were producing significantly more power at the back wheel.
Since then Q8Oils’ technical staff worked closely with the technicians at Airwaves Ducati and the team did not experience a single mechanical engine failure over three years. Such reliability gave the riders the confidence to push the Italian V-Twins to the limit and the results in BSB proved it. Gregorio Lavilla rounded off the 2007 season in style at Brands Hatch with two 1st places, the lap record and clinched the Airwaves Speed League by setting more lap records than anyone else over the year.
